The first season was so masterful that the second season had nowhere to go but down, sadly. It continues to be unflinchingly grisly, never blinking or too queasy to make a joke. And it moves the ball forward meaningfully on unraveling the mysteries of what happened out there and how it’s weighing on them now. But the suspense feels largely gone. I feel less like I’m being baited along with juicy questions and more like I’m being asked to just bear witness to some gruesome shit.
