Very exciting, cool stuff. Great cast of characters. Romantic and thrilling, with bold storytelling.

But can we talk about how it’s kind of confusing that when they’re talking in English, we’re meant to understand that they’re really talking in Portuguese, even though Blackthorne is speaking in a British accent and is British. And so if he were to in a private moment mutter something to himself in English, there isn’t really a way for them to make it clear that this is happening, because English is Portuguese? Would he need to mutter something in Portuguese to mean English? Or maybe something else entirely?

Honestly it was a little bit too much ritualized suicide for my taste though.
