Binge rewatch in advance of season two. Holds up for sure. Suffers I think for the characters having such limited inner lives. Of course that’s part of the whole conceit and that’s presented as tragedy, which it is, but it’s also a bit annoying to watch.
I think all of the mystery box elements are similarly annoying (goats, masks, what does the work actually entail, etc).
The cast is just excellent though. Millchick and Ricken are particularly well struck conceptions.
And when it focuses on the actual characters and the actual scenario and it’s very clear stakes, it’s able to tell a story without the need for those frippy curlicues.
Looking forward to the second season if only because it promises to feature more Dichen Lachman.
