Massively disappointing. It’s an incoherent mess. Mostly free of charisma, other than the scenes with Lee Pace in them.

I tried listening to the podcast with the showrunner. Dude is high on his own supply.

To be fair I’ve only read the first book so I don’t know if this takes inspiration from some of the later books, but it seems to actively undermine everything that was interesting about the books. This is a show where people have super powers and can outlive their mortal life spans thru cloning, or downloading their brains into computers, or sleeping for a century. What’s so great about the book is that it’s about how history sweeps and leaves everyone behind, it’s up to the next generation to keep things running. In the books, people are very human; feeble and clever. Here they’re super powered and eternal. It’s bullshit and I hated it.
